Funeral arrangements announced for teenager who died in Limerick collision

THE FUNERAL arrangements have been announced for the teenager who died in a collision in Limerick City on Wednesday night.

Savannah Calvert (14), of Fairview Crescent, Garryowen, died tragically following a road accident late on Wednesday night which took place in the Bank Place area of Limerick City.

Savanna is survived by her father, Dermot, sisters Diane, Deborah, Linda, Stacey, Chloe, Joelene, and Denika, brothers Dermot, Lee, Richard, Ross, and Kieran.

According to her obituary, posted on RIP.ie, Savannah will be sadly missed by her heartbroken family, nieces, nephews, nana Bonnie Barry, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, extended family & many friends.

She is predeceased by her mother Jacqueline, and sisters Sophie and Katie.

According to Gardaí, 14-year-old Savannah, a pedestrian in the single-car incident, was taken to University Hospital Limerick after suffering serious injuries. She passed away at the Dooradoyle hospital shortly afterwards.

She will repose at Griffin’s Funeral Home on Monday (August 21) from 2pm to 4pm.

She will arrive at St. John’s Cathedral on Tuesday, 22 August, for Requiem Mass at 11am. Funeral afterwards to Mount St. Oliver Cemetery.

Tributes have been pouring on for the teenager who mourners described as the “nicest little girl” with a “heart of gold” who was “always too good for this Earth”.

“God why did you have to take the most harmless child that would do anything for anyone,” another wrote online.

No other injuries from the incident have so far been reported.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to the incident, including those who may have dash-cam footage, to come forward.
