Emergency housing budget needed as over 12,600 people accessing emergency accommodation

EMERGENCY housing figures demonstrate the need for an emergency housing budget.

Thatโ€™s the sentiment from homeless charity Depaul, reacting to Department of Housing, Local Government, and Heritage figures which show that as many as 12,600 people are accessing local authority-managed emergency accommodation nationwide.

โ€œHomelessness figures underline yet again the need for an emergency housing budget in Budget 2024.”

“Although we remain hopeful that we can turn a corner, it doesn’t appear that the number of people in temporary accommodation will reduce in significant numbers anytime soon,โ€ said Depaul chief executive David Carroll.
