EVEN with a couple of rounds still left, Kilmallock are well positioned to emerge as one of two semi-finalists from Group One in the Bon Secours Limerick Senior Hurling Championship.

The Balbec made it three wins from as many starts with a comfortable 1-17 to 0-13 defeat of relegation-threatened Kildimo/Pallaskenry at Newcastle West.

Kilmallock, however, had led just 1-6 to 0-8 at the interval before upping their performance considerably in the closing half.

With a handsome 1-4, Shane O’Brien impressed greatly for the winners.

Kilmallock captain Pheilim O’Reilly suffered a knee injury and is a doubt for the immediate future.

Holders Na Piarsaigh and Patrickswell are the others in running for a top two slot in Group One. Adrian Breen grabbed a brace of goals as Na Piarsaigh swept past relegation bothered Doon (4-23 to 0-16) at Bruff and the ‘well just about disposed of Ahane, 2-16 to 2-13, at Kilmallock’s Fitzgerald Park.  Here, Cian Lynch gave an exhibition for Patrickswell.

Third and fourth placed teams in the top tier earn quarter-final places.

In Group Two, Ballybrown and Mungret St. Paul’s are best placed for advancement, while neither Adare nor Monaleen can be discounted.
