LGFA Finals staged at Gaelic Grounds

IN a praise-worthy move, the Gaelic Grounds historically hosted both the Limerick Ladies Senior and Intermediate Football Finals.

In his programme contribution, Limerick Chairman PJ Kiely said: โ€œI would like to extend a big thank you to the County Secretary of Limerick GAA (Mike Oโ€™Riordan) for working with me in securing the TUS Gaelic Grounds for our Finals.โ€

In the 3Dental Senior Final, Monagea registered a merited 2-9 to 0-7 defeat of St. Ailbeโ€™s.

Martin Oโ€™Sullivanโ€™s side were 0-7 to 0-3 in front at half-time, and closing half goals from county pair Deborah Murphy and Catriona Davis closed-out the contest.

Monagea were under the inspired captaincy ofย  their full-back Yvonne Lee.

Grรกinne McNamara kicked three points for Ailbeโ€™s.

In a thrilling curtain-raiser, Galtee Gaels bettered Murroe/Boher (3-6 to 2-8), helped greatly by a hat-trick from Breda Martin.

Murroe/Boher duo Nicole Bennett and Karen Cunningham both goaled in an exciting grandstand finish.

The Gaels were skippered by Shelly Walsh.
