THE results of a new study have found that, on average, new tenants in Limerick are paying 27.4 per cent more than those who already rent homes across the city and county.

The study, conducted by the Economic and Social Research Institute, also found that those taking on new tenancies nationwide are paying on average €214 more each month than those who already have established rental leases.

In Waterford, new tenants were found to be paying 28.6 per cent more than established tenants, while those in Galway are paying 24.7 per cent more.

The research stated that the biggest gaps in rental prices were found across the Mid and North West, citing a shift to remote working models as a key factor in the increases.
