Busy Limerick road reopens following collision

A BUSY Limerick road has reopened following a two-vehicle collision this morning which saw one person rushed to hospital for emergency care.

The N24 near Ballysimon was closed for a time this morning (Wednesday October 18) due to a two-vehicle collision between Ballysimon Junction and Beary’s Cross.

In a statement to the Limerick Post, Gardaí said that one person had been taken to University Hospital Limerick for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

“Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of a two-vehicle traffic collision that occurred at approximately 9:10am today, 18th of October 2023 on the N24 in the Ballysimon area of Co Limerick,” a Garda spokesperson said.

The road has since reopened to the public, the Garda spokesman confirmed.

Hazardous driving conditions were seen across the county this morning as Storm Babet made landfall across Ireland.

Met Éireann have issued a Status Yellow rainfall warning for the whole country and warned of reduced visibility on roads, as well as potential for spot flooding and dangerous driving conditions.
