FIANNA Fáil councilor Catherine Slattery called on Limerick City and County Council to take in charge Lynwood Park Laneways, which, she claims, are overgrown and rat infested.

Speaking at this Monday’s Metropolitan District meeting, Cllr Slattery said she had tried on many occasions to get the local authority to clean up these lanes, but failed.

“These lanes are gated but the residents who requested these lanes to be gated are now deceased or elderly and cannot clean them up,” she insisted.

“The laneways are now overgrown and rat infested. Can the Council take these lanes in charge again?”

In response, Cllr Slattery was informed that the laneways are currently not in Council charge and therefore not in its remit to maintain.
