Gaelic Grounds to host Limerick SFC Final

WITH works still ongoing at Mick Neville Park in Rathkeale, Sunday week’s Limerick Senior Football Final between Adare and Newcastle West has been confirmed for the Gaelic Grounds, 2pm.

It will be third final on the trot involving the pair, with Jimmy Lee’s NCW seeking an historic three-in-row.

John Brudair managed Adare needed extra-time to overcome the stubborn challenge of Fr. Casey’s in Newcastle West, 2-15 to 2-12, at the weekend.

Adare appeared home-and-hosed nearing the hour mark only to leak a couple of goals, one of which was a converted penalty from Eliah O’Riordan. Goals for Adare arrived early-on through Hugh Bourke and Davey Lyons.

In additional time, Adare outscored their opponents four points to one.

Newcastle West breezed past Monaleen, 1-9 to 0-6, in the other semi-final. NCW’s goal came through towering full-forward Mike McMahon.

Mungret St. Paul’s and Dromcollogher/Broadford are through to the Intermediate Final following respective semi-final wins over Rathkeale and St. Senan’s.

This contest has been listed for Askeaton on Saturday, November 4.

Meanwhile, Limerick’s Maurice Noonan (Granagh/Ballingarry) superbly converted two sideline strikes in extra-time to help Munster defeat Ulster in the weekend All-Ireland Wheelchair Hurling Final.
