FINE Gael councillor Tom Ruddle has called on the local authority to give a date and commitment to clean upper Maiden Street and both the North and South Quay locations of Newcastle West.
Cllr Ruddle pointed out that there is grass growing up the sides of the footpaths.
“We had over 30,000 visitors in the Castle last year and we do not want to project an image of an unkempt town,” he said.
Senior Executive Engineer John Sheehan of the Council’s Transportation and Mobility Directorate explained that works, as required, were carried out at these locations throughout October.
