Thomas Street reopened after emergency works

Emergency works were carried out on the upper end of Thomas Street in Limerick City.

THOMAS Street in Limerick City has reopened following emergency works, which had been underway since Friday afternoon.

Limerick City and County Counil confirmed today (Sunday) that the popular thoroughfare, Thomas Street, has reopened after being closed for the past two days due to emergency works in the area.

“Limerick City and County Council can confirm that one lane of Thomas Street (between Anne St and Wickham St) is now re-opened to traffic, while one footpath, on that same section, is now also open to the public,” said a spokesman for the Council.

“Part of the street was closed on Friday evening so that emergency works could be carried out.”

The Council spokesman said that there would be “more to follow”.

The works took place on the upper end of Thomas Street, not far from the popular Wickham Way market.

Works are believed to have been in relation to issues identified with a building in the area, and a number of large containers were brought into the street while works were carried out.
