CAR owners have been warned to use caution after a spate of thefts across the county in the past week.

This comes as a Castleconnell woman in her 30s left her running car momentarily unattended in her driveway last Friday morning (November 17) giving a watchful thief the opportunity to jump in and drive away.

Elsewhere, an elderly man in Ballyclough awoke at 4.10am last Thursday (November 16) to find his car being driven out of his driveway.

“He had let his keys in the car, a criminal saw his chance and drove off in it,” said Sergeant Ber Leetch of Henry Street Garda Station.
