Look Left for alt-metallers Helmet this Saturday

NEW York rockers Helmet release their new album ‘Left’ this week and are due to play live in Dolans Limerick on Saturday December 9.

Helmet are now embarking on the LOOK LEFT” Europe tour in support of their ninth album bringing their powerful performances to stages in sixteen countries.

The band was formed in 1989 in New York City and has left an indelible mark on the world of alternative metal. Led by the inimitable vocalist and virtuoso guitarist, Page Hamilton, Helmet emerged as a groundbreaking sonic juggernaut.

With their distinctive sound, marked by thunderous, chugging guitar riffs, intricate rhythms, and Hamilton’s impassioned, often raw-throated vocals, they quickly earned their place in the pantheon of rock innovators.

In the annals of alternative metal, Helmet’s music is celebrated as the thinking person’s anthem that fuses math-rock-inspired compositions with lyrics that challenge boundaries.

Their 1992 opus, ‘Meantime,’ remains a watershed moment in the alternative metal genre, a release that set the world on fire with its power and innovation. Featuring iconic tracks like “Unsung” and “In the Meantime,” the album unveiled Helmet’s unapologetically potent and groundbreaking approach to heavy music.

The new album, ‘Left’ sees Helmet, comprising frontman Page Hamilton, drummer Kyle Stevenson, guitarist Dan Beeman and bassist Dave Case, carve out a musical landscape that is taut, muscular, and direct.

Hamilton’s lead guitar lines feel like everything from downed power lines arcing to exploding resistors in shortwave radios. Helmet live at Dolans Limerick this Saturday December 9.
