LIMERICK retailers and retail workers will benefit from a new Garda operation focusing on organised retail crime.
Thatโs according to Fine Gael senator Maria Byrne, who this week welcomed the operation, called Operation Tรกirge, which will see Gardaรญ crack down on crimes such as the bulk thefts of retails good for resale on the black market.
โWe know a lot of our local retailers in Limerick operate tight profit margins and, in the run-up to the busy Christmas trading period, they need certainty that their stock is not at risk of theft,โ the Limerick senator said.
โRetail crime costs retailers in Ireland in the region of โฌ1.62billion each year. Business owners and staff must feel safe and protected from this kind of criminality.โ
