FINE Gael councillor Liam Galvin has called for the ditch at the L7017 road connecting to the main Dromcollogher/Broadford road to be removed and replaced with post and rail.
This, Cllr Galvin, told the Council at the monthly Newcastle West area meeting, will significantly improve sight lines at this dangerous junction.
Senior executive engineer John Sheehan said that improving sight lines at this juncture will be considered as part of the 2024 Municipal District works.
“The fence type will have to be in compliance with the new TII standards,” he added.
