Make the most of your Christmas jumper

Christmas jumper season is well and truly here.

CHRISTMAS jumper season is upon us. Whether it’s a reunion with friends, the 12 pubs of Christmas, a cheeky Stephen’s Day outing, or the big day itself, the time is right to flaunt your Christmas knitwear.

There are so many ways to style your favourite Christmas jumper, whether it’s a casual look, a professional office outfit for the last working day before Christmas tomorrow, or a night out style, here are some top tips.

Dress it up

There are so many nights out over Christmas that call for a Christmas jumper. One of my favourite ways to style a Christmas jumper for a night out is with a sequined skirt, and there are tons of options available in terms of sequined skirts in stores at this time of the year.

I love the look of a black or grey Christmas patterned jumper with a sequined mini skirt and a pair of heels or black boots. It’s such a nice way to add another Christmas vibe with the sparkle. I also love the look of a cream or white sequined skirt with a red jumper for a real Christmassy look.

Leather shorts are another great way to style up a Christmas jumper for a night out. Leather shorts are a trend that is here to stay and they’re a great thing to have in the wardrobe over the party season.

I also love a paper bag cinched waist when wearing a Christmas jumper to keep the shape of your silhouette and not get lost under the knitted jumpers. I personally always pair my leather shorts with a black boot. In this cold weather, these are also a great one to pair with tights.

Cropped jumpers and a high waist midi skirt are another great way to style your jumpers. The thought of a cropped Christmas jumper always seemed a little bit scary to me, but I love the look of the loose cropped fit with a tighter high-waisted bottom. Again, like the leather shorts, the loose jumper paired with the tighter bottoms ensure you keep your figure flattering while joining in on the festivities.

Side note, I am absolutely obsessed with the silver jeans and leather trousers trend that is dominating high street fashions stores like Zara and H&M at the minute.

Make it professional

Navigating outfits for semi-formal Christmas occasions, like an office Christmas party or end of year work drinks, can be tough.

For some festive cheer in the office, a high waisted black trouser and a Christmas jumper are the perfect combination. You can tuck the jumper into the waistband of the trousers to keep a chic and put-together look. A cropped jumper can also work here for a clean-cut look depending on how cropped your jumper is and how high your trouser waistband comes up. The look of a jumper sitting just at the high waistband will look sleek and bring a youthful twist to your office look.

A knitted midi skirt paired with a knitted jumper is a great way to put a festive spin into the knit wear co-ord trend we’ve been seeing over the past year. There are so many options for a knitted midi skirts in terms of colour too.

While black is always a safe bet, cream skirts look so chic with a neutral-coloured Christmas jumper. To really play into the festive trend, a deep green knitted skirt paired with a jumper is stunning, or go bold and opt for a red skirt with the Christmas jumper on top.

Something I have seen a lot of this year is Christmas cardigans. These are such a perfect option for office wear as they are so quick and easy to throw over your usual office looks. A pair of trousers and a body suit or t-shirt paired with the cardigan is an easy go to, or a dress and tights with the cardigan on top.

Keep it casual

While all the holiday festivities are great fun over the Christmas, we all love staying at home with our families and being comfortable and cosy.

In this case, jeans and a big knit are such a winter staple and this works just as well for a Christmas jumper. I personally love the look of dark denim wide leg jeans paired with a belt and the jumper tucked in, but this works with any style or colour jeans you prefer. If you have white jeans or trousers still in the wardrobe from summer, these look great paired with a bright red jumper.

Let’s be completely honest, after all the festivities you might just want to put on your comfiest clothes and curl up on the couch. The same way, wide leg jeans are back in fashion, wide leg loose tracksuits are back too. So stick on a loose tracksuit, throw on your Christmas jumper, switch on your favourite film, and have a fabulous time.
