Limerick’s heavy hitters off duty for NHL opener against Antrim

LIMERICK boss John Kiely has kept most of his big hitters in reserve ahead of today’s National Hurling League opener with Antrim at Semple Stadium, Thurles (2pm).

Just four starters – Dan Morrissey, Diarmaid Byrnes, David Reidy, and Gearóid Hegarty – from last Summer’s All-Ireland win over Kilkenny are on first team duty.

Reidy is an interesting selection at centre-back.

Thomas Walsh (Waterford) will referee.

Limerick: Jamie Power; Fergal O’Connor, Dan Morrissey, Aaron Costello; Diarmaid Byrnes, David Reidy, Mark Quinlan; Barry Murphy, Colin Coughlan; Gearóid Hegarty, captain, Cathal O’Neill, Conor Boylan; Donnacha Ó Dálaigh, Shane O’Brien, Adam English.
