Munster coast to victory over Scarlets

MUNSTER were clear cut 42-7 winners at Scarlets in the URC. Ahead 14-0 at the interval, the outcome was never in doubt.

In this bonus-point win, the visitors secured tries through man of the match Gavin Coombes (2), Jack O’Sullivan, Tom Ahern, Seán O’Brien (his first for the club), and Shay McCarthy. On each occasion, flawless Joey Carbery added the extras.

Interestingly, Tom Ahern and RG Snyman, both 6’9”, completed the biggest lock partnership to compete in the league’s history and both made big contributions to this win.
Of concern were the enforced departures of Ruadhán Quinn and Snyman for HIAs.
It was an first away win in the competition for Munster since their final victory in Cape Town last May.

Munster: Mike Haley (Shay McCarthy, 72); Seán O’Brien, Antoine Frisch, Alex Nankivell (Rory Scannell, 64); Shane Daly; Joey Carbery, Conor Murray (Ethan Coughlan, 47-53 & 64); Jeremy Loughman (Josh Wycherley, 49), Niall Scannell (Eoghan Clarke, 67), Oli Jager (John Ryan, 52); Tom Ahern, RG Snyman (Fineen Wycherley, 41-44 & 53); Ruadhán Quinn (Jack O’Sullivan, 44), Alex Kendellen (captain), Gavin Coombes.
