SINN Féin local election candidate for Limerick City East, Ursula Gavan, says that there is a clear need to install footpaths along the main R525 from Castleconnell Scout Campsite to Nelson’s Cross and along the commons to the railway gates.

“Following on from some much-needed road safety improvements carried out by Limerick City and County Council and the ESB, I firmly believe it is time for the council to go one step further.

“Nelson’s Cross has been an accident black spot for years and it is a very difficult cross for pedestrians to navigate. So, I am calling on the council to carry out a pedestrian safety audit on the junction, with the view of installing footpaths,” Ms Gavan said.
