
LABOUR councillor Conor Sheehan has condemned the findings a recent Residential Tenancies Board report that indicated that a new tenancy in Limerick is now averaging at โฌ1,356 – up 9.4 per cent since last year.
โฌ1,076, the report revealed, was the average rent for existing tenancies in Limerick, having increased by 7.9 per cent in a single year.
“The recent RTB report underscores the urgent need for decisive action to address the housing crisis gripping our communities,” Cllr Sheehan declared.
“Renters are struggling and it’s clear that the State must fulfil its basic duty to ensure everyone has access to secure and affordable housing.

“Renters live in fear of rent hikes or precarious tenancies, while others face the daunting challenge of finding a place to call home.”
