A LIMERICK walking trail has been named among the top walking spots in Ireland.

As spring sets in and people get out and about enjoying the change in weather, the Limerick Greenway has been ranked second in a list of Ireland’s favourite walking trails, compiled by Betfair Casino.

The list was compiled using an index score made up of figures from Google rating, Tripadvisor reviews, and Instagram hashtags, and ranked the greenway in second place, on par with the Howth Cliff Walk in Dublin.

Clare’s Cliffs of Moher took the top spot, while the Ballycotton Cliff Walk in Cork, Castletown House in Celbridge, Kildare, and Errigal in Donegal all came in joint third place.

Rounding out the top six were the Sugarloaf in Wicklow, Killinthomas Woods in Kildare, and Croagh Patrick in Mayo.
