THE IRISH Woodturners Guild is celebrating 40 years in existence with a special event at Limerick’s Hunt Museum.

The event, Turning Turns 40, will take place in the city centre museum tomorrow evening (Thursday, March 28), and celebrates the Irish Woodturners Guild, which is the oldest woodturning guild in the world.

As well as this, the Irish Woodturners Guild presented their members with a 6 inch block of ash to create some unique pieces to celebrate the anniversary, as well as to commemorate the ash tree which is facing extinction due to ash dieback disease.

Turning Turns 40 takes place on Thursday (March 28) from 5.30pm to 7.30pm.
