A FORMER manager and regular steward at Limerick Racecourse passed away suddenly at the weekend.
Kilbeggan General Manager Paddy Dunican was aged just 61.
โWe were shocked and saddened to learn of the sudden passing of Paddy,โ Limerick racecourse said.
โPaddy was the face of Kilbeggan Races for many years, our interim manager for our Christmas Racing Festival 2021 and regular steward at our racecourse. Heโll be sadly missed. Condolences to all the family. Rest in peace Paddy.โ
Mr. Dunican had been in charge of the Westmeath venue for more than three decades having replaced Tom McCormack as general manager in 1988.
โHe was one of the toughest people in Irish racing, so we’re all in shock,โ Fairyhouse racecourse manager Peter Roe told theย Racing Post.
โPaddy was Mr Kilbeggan. It was his family, it was his life, it was his centrepiece. He loved it so much. Often he would do things that might not suit the industry but if it would suit Kilbeggan, he would just do it.โ
Survived by his siblings, Rosemary, Gemma, Grรกinne, Nicholas, Peter, Aoife, his nieces; nephews, relatives, colleagues and his many friends, Mr. Dunicanโs remains will repose at Nannery`s Chapel of Rest, River View, Kilbeggan on Tuesday.
Requiem Mass is at the localย Church of St. James on Wednesday, at 11am. Burial afterwards in the Relic cemetery, Kilbeggan.
