“He was one of the toughest people in Irish racing, so we’re all in shock,” Fairyhouse racecourse manager Peter Roe told the Racing Post.

“Paddy was Mr Kilbeggan. It was his family, it was his life, it was his centrepiece. He loved it so much. Often he would do things that might not suit the industry but if it would suit Kilbeggan, he would just do it.”

Survived by his siblings, Rosemary, Gemma, Gráinne, Nicholas, Peter, Aoife, his nieces; nephews, relatives, colleagues and his many friends, Mr. Dunican’s remains will repose at Nannery`s Chapel of Rest, River View, Kilbeggan on Tuesday.

Requiem Mass is at the local Church of St. James on Wednesday, at 11am. Burial afterwards in the Relic cemetery, Kilbeggan.
