MIC student takes top prize in Psychology Society Student Congress

Final Year B Ed in Education and Psychology student at Mary Immaculate College, Sarah Ryan-Purcell.

A MARY Immaculate College (MIC) student took home one of just six prizes from the Psychology Society of Ireland All Ireland Student Congress.

Fourth year MIC student Sarah Ryan-Purcell, from Blackrock in Cork, was highly commended at the all-island annual congress in the Oral Presentation category of the undergraduate competition, describing the win as โ€œthe cherry on topโ€ after getting the opportunity to present her work at the prestigious congress.

Her work focused on finding a potential link between perfectionism and academic procrastination, finding that perfectionists often delay tasks because they may be daunted by trying to do them perfectly.
