Limerick university becomes first in Ireland to be certified ADHD friendly

Prof. Vincent Cunnane TUS President and Nicola Coss, National Service Development Manager, ADHD Ireland.

THE Technological University of the Shannon (TUS) has become the first university in Ireland to be certified ADHD friendly by ADHD Ireland.

The designation follows the roll-out of ADHD Ireland’s ADHD-Friendly University Programme across TUS campuses, including its Moylish campus in Limerick, aimed at promoting awareness, understanding, and practical strategies to support neurodiverse students.

The programme addresses the stigma and misconceptions surrounding ADHD and equipped TUS staff with tools to recognise and support students with ADHD effectively.

According to ADHD Ireland, as much as five per cent of the Irish population experiences the neurological disorder.

According to TUS, there has been a 59 per cent increase in students diagnosed with ADHD attending its Mid West campus in the past four years.
