Ms Walsh said the award has a deep significance to her and that “it is such a privilege to be recognised by Mayor Mitchell in my home county of Limerick”.

“When I finished college, I really started my education journey as I entered the University of Life,” she told the gathering.

“I am grateful to my family, friends, and the Limerick network of people who have supported me over the past 30 years; giants like Fr Aengus Finucane and Tim O’Connor who were my steadfast coaches. We all need champions and supporters on our journey.”
