THE PREFERRED location for the new Moyross Train Station was announced this week.

Iarnród Éireann have announced that the preferred location for new station will be to the rear of Corpus Christi Primary School and the Moyross Community Enterprise Centre.

Access to the station will be adjacent to both Corpus Christi Parish Church and Moyross Health Centre, according to the transport body.

A public consultation on the project opened this week, running until June 14, giving people the chance to have their say on the proposed plans.

The project is funded by the National Transport Authority, and forms part of the Department of Transport’s Pathfinder Programme, which consists of sustainable transport projects developed by local authorities around the country.

The new Moyross station will be on the existing Limerick to Galway rail line, and will provide more transport options for the growing population in the area, with connectivity to Limerick City, Dublin, Cork, Galway, and beyond.

Iarnród Éireann Chief Executive Jim Meade said that “the provision of a new station at Moyross is a key strategic development for the area and we look forward to serving the community of Moyross from 2026”.

“Feedback from the community and beyond will inform the ongoing design for the project and I would urge as many people as possible to get involved in the consultation. This is your infrastructure for your future,” Mr Meade said.

A public information meeting will be held on Wednesday June 5 from 4pm to 8pm in Moyross Community Enterprise Centre.
