Man rushed to Cork hospital with serious injuries following crash in County Limerick

A MAN has been rushed to Cork University Hospital with serious injuries following a collision involving a car and a truck in County Limerick.

The collision occurred around 7am this Wednesday morning (August 7) near the port town of Foynes.

The driver of the car was seriously injured.

A Garda spokeswoman said that Gardaรญ attended the scene of a โ€œtwo-vehicle road traffic collision involving a truck and a car, that occurred on the N69, at approximately 7amโ€.

โ€œOne man (20s) suffered serious injuries and has been taken to University Hospital Cork for treatment,โ€ said the Garda spokeswoman.

The road remains closed this afternoon and local diversions are in place.

The Garda spokeswoman said the Gardaโ€™s โ€œinvestigations are ongoingโ€.

Firefighters attached to Foynes and Rathkeale firehouses were dispatched to the scene by 999/112 radio operators at the Munster Regional Communications Centre in Limerick City.

A Garda forensic collision investigator was due to attend the scene to conduct a technical examination of the road.
