THE local authority has gone to bat to deliver cricket playing facilities in Limerick City.

Labour councillor Joe Leddin asked for a progress report on the provision of amenities at this month’s Metropolitan District of Limerick City and County Council.

The Council revealed that its Regeneration, Sports, and Recreation Directorate has been engaging with local cricket clubs on the potential to develop cricket batting infrastructure within Mungret Park.

“The Directorate will continue to explore options in relation to identifying lands that would be suitable for the delivery of such a resource within the Metropolitan District of Limerick,” the local authority said.
