IBTS to hold Limerick donation clinics as supply remains low

THE Irish Blood Transfusion Service (IBTS) has asked the people of Limerick to donate blood after the recent hot weather spell led to a “noticeable drop” in donations.

WITH BLOOD supplies running low in Irish hospitals, the Irish Blood Transfusion Service (IBTS) announced a number upcoming donation clinics in Limerick.

The Radisson Hotel on the Ennis Road will hold a blood donation clinic on Monday August 19 from 4.20pm to 7.40pm.

A second clinic will be held in the Caherconlish Community Centre on Tuesday August 20 from 4.50pm to 8.10pm.

The IBTS is urging all interested in donation to come along to the clinics and give blood.

The organisation added that Irish hospitals now need six per cent more blood than a year ago, which equates to 15,000 extra new blood donors this year alone.
