Thomond Park gig features in Snow Patrol’s new video

SNOW Patrol feature their recent show in July at Thomond Park Stadium for the video to new single โ€˜Allโ€™.

The current single is the third song to be shared from the Northern Irish bandโ€™s forthcoming new album โ€˜The Forest Is The Pathโ€™, which is set for release on September 1.

Speaking about the new single, Gary Lightbody says, โ€œAllย was written by Fraser T Smith and myself in late November of 2022. This was almost exactly a year before we would ask Fraser to produce the album. The first time we recorded the album it didnโ€™t work out and we would then ask Fraser to step into the producerโ€™s chair in December of 2023 and he was a dream to work with.

ย

The first day of writing with him I walked into the studio and he had already got some music going. It was all very much โ€œhi, how are you, what about this?โ€ and BAM we were off. I love when that happens. Not really a fan of the small talk. I like big talk. And when youโ€™re writing a song with someone you have to get to the big talk (or whatโ€™s the point), so why wait?

ย

My memory is that it all came together very quickly. I wrote a melody andย some words while Fraser built the track and in a couple of hours we had a really great rough version of the song.

ย

Then Johnny and Nathan put some extraordinary guitars, keys and piano on it, not to mention incredible backing vocals and so many things which lifted the song massively. Another example of the three of us being locked-in together on this record, it felt like something truly special was happening in the studio.โ€

ย

โ€˜Allโ€™ is already proving itself a firm fan favourite following its debut on Snow Patrolโ€™s run of live dates this summer, with Gary Lightbody remarking he is โ€œblown away by the reaction itโ€™s been getting from crowds hearing it for the first time.โ€

ย

Snow Patrolย kicked off the series of headline shows with a stunning performance at Rock Werchter in Belgium before playing to overย 35,000 fans at a slod-out Thomond Park Stadium in Limerick. This month sees them headline a run of UK festivals, before the band return to play two intimate shows in London and Belfast in the week of album release. They will return to play an 8 dateย UK and Ireland Arena tour in February 2025.

ย

โ€˜The Forest Is The Pathโ€™ย is produced byย Fraser T Smithย (Adele/Dave/Stormzy) and the band. Now comprising of trio Nathan Connolly, Gary Lightbody and Johnny McDaid, Snow Patrol offered the first tastes of their extraordinary new album with singleย โ€˜The Beginningโ€™ย and recent trackย โ€˜This Is The Sound Of Your Voiceโ€™.

ย

โ€˜The Forest Is The Pathโ€™ย was written by Nathan Connolly, Gary Lightbody and Johnny McDaid and features twelve tracks. Fraser T Smith, Will Reynolds, Roy Kerr andย Troy Van Leeuwen (QOTSA) also contributed to the writing on some of the songs on the album. The album and single artwork features paintings by Gary Lightbody.

ย

โ€˜The Forest is the Pathโ€™ย is an album rooted in reflection, introspection and interrogation. One of its key building blocks, says Gary, was the idea of love from the distance of time.ย โ€œI havenโ€™t been in a relationship for a very long time, 10 years or more, so love from a distance to me meant the way a relationship sits in your memory from a distance of, say, 10 years. Thatโ€™s not something Iโ€™d previously thought about as away to write about love. So itโ€™s like, when youโ€™re in love, youโ€™re standing in the lobby of the Empire State Building. When youโ€™ve broken up with that person, youโ€™re out in the street. You can still see the building, but youโ€™re not in there anymore. And when itโ€™s 10 years later, now youโ€™re standing in Brooklyn looking at the Manhattan skyline.โ€
