ONE Limerick organisation has taken a share of an almost half million euro funding pot laid out for supporting pioneering, innovative nature projects nationwide.

Ballyhoura Heritage and Environment CLG received €5,457 from the Peatlands and Natura Community Engagement Scheme for its awareness, engagement, and conservation measures project at the Griston Bog.

The project was among 35 others to receive funding, of which Nature and Heritage Minister Malcolm Noonan said he was “really impressed by the diverse and creative initiatives put forward by such active community and volunteer groups and environmental organisations”.

€10,000 was also awarded to the Clonlara Development Association for the development and management plan for Sheedy’s Bog.
