TREATY United will need to peak to topple holders Athlone Town in the quarter-final of the FAI Womenโs Cup at the Markets Field on Saturday (5pm).
The sides have met on two occasions so far this year. The first was a pre-season friendly when they played out a scoreless draw. The second meeting was in the league in Athlone in June when Treaty created a number of chances but lost out to a late, late Chloe Singleton goal which handed the home side a 1-0 win.
Dominic Foleyโs side, however, are fresh from a splendid 2-1 away victory over Sligo Rovers in the Premier Division.
Foley is excited by the fixture.
โThe girls are really looking forward to welcoming the current cup holders and league leaders to our home on Saturday,โ he said.
โWe have been very competitive in our two games against them this season. We will be going in to the game with the belief that if we have a good day, we are capable of beating them and causing a cup upset. Athlone are the ones who will be coming down with the pressure of expectation on themโ.
โWeโd really welcome all the support we can get on Saturday evening to help cheer us on. You not only get the chance to support this Treaty United team but you’ll also get a chance to see the side that are currently at the pinnacle of Womenโs soccer in Irelandโ.
Admission for adults is โฌ5.
