Event to celebrate the late Kate O’Brien to take place in Limerick this weekend

Limerick people can celebrate Kate O'Brien's life and works this Sunday.

IT ISNโ€™T often an opportunity arises to spend an afternoon with an author after their death, but that is whatโ€™s on offer this Sunday (November 10).

No 1 Pery Square will play host to An Afternoon with Kate Oโ€™Brien, a literary event celebrating the late authorโ€™s life, work, and Limerick heritage on the 50th anniversary of her passing.

The event will feature a talk on the author’s life and achievements, a musical tribute from soprano Sarah-Ellen Murphy and pianist Irina Dernova, and a presentation from Limerick historian Sharon Slater titled โ€˜From Evicted Tenants to Limerick Bourgeoisie โ€“ The Changing Fortunes of the Oโ€™Brien Familyโ€™.

Local actor Myles Breen will also perform excepts from Oโ€™Brienโ€™s catalogue.
