ADARE came up short, 2-8 to 0-9, against Éire Óg of Clare in the opening round of the Munster Senior Club Football Championship at Cusack Park, Ennis.

The four-time winners in Limerick have still to register a victory in the provincial competition.

On Sunday, Adare were clearly the better outfit in the opening-half but managed to lead 0-4 to 0-2 at the interval.

An early second-half goal from man-of-the-match Ikem Ugwueru and another soon after from Ciaran Russell put the contest beyond the reach of the visitors.
