THE time for spreading slurry has come to an end.
That’s according to Limerick City and County Council, who sent out a reminder to farmers across the county that slurry spreading season has now officially closed until January.
The Council reminded farmers that the slurry spreading season is closed from October 1 to January 15, and that spreading during this time “poses a significant risk to water quality due to nutrient runoff”.
The Council added that the spreading of farm yard manure is prohibited from November 1 to January 15, while spreading of soiled water is prohibited from December 1 to 31.
