Hogan enjoys festival winner

Calum Hogan marked his first festival winner at Limerick.

AMONG the many highlights of the Christmas Racing action at Limerick was a first festival winner for teenage jockey Calum Hogan of Rathkeale.

He scored with Dream In The Park (7/2) in the BRC McMahon Reinforcements Handicap Chase.

Trainer Eric McNamara had earlier scored with 9/1 shot Millstream Lady in the Mr Binman Mares Handicap Hurdle.

The McNamara double was achieved 40 years on from the Rathkeale handlerโ€™s first Festival winner For Jon.

He quipped โ€œforty years ago today, I trained my first winner with For Jon, with Michael Byrne riding him. It was at the old Greenpark racecourse so there have been a lot of changes since, but weโ€™re still at it and havenโ€™t gone hungry yet.โ€
