RATES of burglaries in the Limerick Garda Division have risen by 39 per cent in the last 12 months, according to new CSO data.
554 burglaries were reported in the last year, highlighting the need for householders to be more vigilant when it comes to securing their homes.
Nationally, burglaries rose by nine per cent, with 9,858 burglaries reported to Gardaรญ.
Security systems provider PhoneWatch said that as the dark winter evenings set in, there are steps people can take to protect their homes.
