Blood donation clinic in Corbally amid shortage of supply

THE Irish Blood Transfusion Service (IBTS) has asked the people of Limerick to donate blood after the recent hot weather spell led to a โ€œnoticeable dropโ€ in donations.

FOLLOWING a pre-amber alert issued earlier this month over a potential shortage of supply in the national blood stock, the Irish Blood Transfusion Service has sounded a call in Limerick for donors and first time donors to attend a blood donation clinic being held in Corbally next week.

The clinic will take place in St Munchinโ€™s College in Corbally on Monday January 20 from 4.50pm to 8.10pm.

The transfusion service warned that if the pre-amber alert is to be upgraded to amber, there may be an โ€œimmediate implication for hospitals and for elective surgical procedures requiring blood supportโ€.
