FINE Gael councillor Tom Ruddle has called on Limerick City and County Council to consider extending the footpath from Churchtown out to the Sysco factory in Newcastle West.
Speaking at a recent area meeting, Cllr Ruddle pointed out that the company employs over 200 and would be a great benefit to have a linkage to the town.
In response, Senior Executive Engineer John Sheehan explained that all potential National Transport Authority (NTA) schemes will have to be vetted and approved by the NTA.
“This proposal is unlikely to fall under the criteria for their approval,” he suggested.
