A WHOPPING €8,000 was raised over the festive period this year by Limerick Central Rotary Club through its inaugural remembrance tree appeal.
A special cheque presentation of the funds raised by the club’s tree at the Crescent Shopping Centre, through donations by the people of Limerick, was made at the Strand Hotel, with welcome funds going to Down Syndrome Limerick, Limerick Mental Health Association, Doras, and St Munchin’s Community Centre.
Club president Ger Lynch said members were “overwhelmed by the support for our inaugural Remembrance Tree, which provided an opportunity for people to remember a loved one who has passed on or was unable to be home for Christmas”.
