THE Technological University of the Shannon (TUS) has been awarded €2.4million to access state-of-the-art research equipment.

The funding comes under the Capital Equipment Call programme, and will see equipment be made accessible to local companies and SMEs to develop new products and services in the areas of sustainability and manufacturing productivity through the Technology Gateway and Enterprise Ireland/IDA Technology Centre programmes.

€997,250 of the funding will go the Centre for Applied Bio Research (formerly Shannon ABC) on the TUS’ Moylish Campus in Limerick for a Complete Circular Bioprocessing and Biorefinery Plant, while the Smart Sustainability Manufacturing Suite at the Applied Polymer Technology centre at TUS Athlone is to receive €1.4m.
