Three horses seized in Moyross area

IN the latest in a string of seizures by Limerick City and County Council, three abandoned horses were seized in the Moyross area of Limerick in late February.

According to a statement from the local authority, three abandoned horses were seized from College Avenue, Moyross, on February 21.

The statement described the seizure of a four-and-a-half-year-old Bay male, a two-year-old brown and white female Shetland, and a five-year-old black female Cob.

Abandoned horses seized by the local authority are held for five days and, if not claimed by their owner or keeper, are re-homed to shelters outside of Limerick in accordance with the 1996 Control of Horses Act.
