LOOK INSIDE: ‘Upside down’ house in Limerick named Home of the Year

The 70s-style Castletroy home won RTร‰'s Home of the Year for 2025.

AMY and Eoin Martin have lifted the coveted Home of the Year trophy for their 1970s-style home in Castletroy.

In this week’s final, broadcast on RTร‰ One, the three judges, Hugh Wallace, Amanda Bone, and Siobhan Lam, named Amy and Eoin as this yearโ€™s winners.

The couple fell in love with the 1970s-style home and set to work completely gutting and renovating it, bringing it from a D3 BER rating to an A3.

The property is an ‘upside down’ home with the main living area and kitchen on the first floor – making the most of their spectacular garden and the natural light.

The home was a passion project for interior designer Amy.

Judge Hugh Wallace said: โ€œI love the 70s and this home was like Brady bunch, amazing colours and connection with a stunning garden. Brilliant winner.โ€

Judge Amanda Bone said that series 11 ofย Home of the Year was a pleasure to be part of, “this intensity was a testament to the standard of homes showcased in this year’s competition.โ€

Judge Siobhan Lam added: โ€œIโ€™m absolutely thrilled the modern 1970s home is the winner of Home of the Year season 11. This home radiates joy and itโ€™s a perfect representation of the homeowners, you could see their love and dedication to this home everywhere.”

Winners Amy and Eoin Martin said they were โ€œthrilled to have won the Home of the Year, our home is very special to us, and weโ€™re just delighted the judges enjoyed it as much as we doโ€.
