A VIBRANT gender-flipped retelling of Edmond Rostand’s classic play Cyrano is set to take the stage at the Lime Tree Theatre from Wednesday April 30 to Friday May 2.
Presented by final-year Contemporary and Applied Theatre students from Mary Immaculate College, and directed by acclaimed theatre-maker Ann Blake, this production promises an evening of uplifting, life-affirming entertainment.
Adapted and completely reimagined by Australian playwright and television star Virginia Gay, Cyrano is a heartfelt tribute to hope, desire, language, and the lo-fi magic of live theatre.
Reimagining the classic tale with wit and vulnerability, Gay’s adaptation celebrates the raw, lo-fi beauty of live performance, where imagination reigns and connection is everything. At its heart, Cyrano pulses with longing—for love, for authenticity, for the courage to speak our truth. With sharp dialogue, aching romance, and a deep affection for words, this version reminds us that even in our most awkward, yearning moments, there is beauty—and that theatre, at its best, lets us see ourselves with both clarity and compassion.
The cast features Ilinca Luca, Anna Corcoran, Kevin O’Gorman, Nhlanhla Banda, Ellen Ryan, Jack O’Brien and Chloe Daly. Performances begin nightly at 8pm.
