THE Limerick Pride Festival has announced an exclusive ‘Pride Village’ for this year’s festival, which takes place on Shannonside from July 7 to 13.

The village will be hosted on the University of Limerick’s Castletroy campus.

The village is a first of its kind for Limerick, and will see the creation of a “dedicated accommodation hub for the exclusive use of Limerick Pride attendees” on July 11 and 12 during the festival.

This year’s Limerick Pride Festival is set to return in vibrant colour from July 7 to 13, with the annual parade kicking off from Merchant’s Quay on Saturday July 13.

“Under the theme of this year’s festival, ‘United in this Together’, Limerick Pride is happy to announce a safe space of dedicated accommodation,” a spokesman for the festival said.

“The Pride Village will offer a limited number of rooms and apartments on the University of Limerick campus, providing a safe, welcoming, and convenient place to stay during the weekend’s festivities.”

The festival spokesman said that the village concept comes “in response to the growing demand for accessible accommodation during Limerick Pride weekend for the many participants visiting from outside of Limerick City”.

Limerick Pride chairperson Lisa Daly said that “by making the weekend more accessible to Pride-goers from outside of the city, we are happy to shine a spotlight on the incredibly welcoming atmosphere we have created through Limerick Pride”.

Only registered Pride attendees can attend the village, with booking closing on Friday May 10. Booking can be made on [email protected].
