Crescent come up short in Junior Cup final

Jamie Conway of Old Crescent recently helped Ireland to an away win over France at Under-19 level.

OLD Crescent came up a tad short against Cork Constitution in a lively Munster Junior Cup Final.

Crescent got scoring underway early as Glen Kelly slotted over a penalty.

But Con responded just five minutes later with a penalty of their own from out half Aidan Moynihan.

Crescent scored the first try of the afternoon through John Toland.

The Leesiders fought back and earned a try of their own soon after as Josh Daly picked and went from the back of a messy ruck.

Moynihan added the extras.

Crescent had the final say of the half as Kelly slotted a second penalty, putting the Limerick outfit just one point in front at the short whistle.

Con got the second half underway with a try from hooker George Good with the wind catching Moynihanโ€™s kick and sending it wide

Crescent responded in the 45thย minute to bring the sides to 15-16.

Crescent were reduced to 14 at this point awarding Con a kickable penalty.

But Crescent werenโ€™t finished as they were awarded a penalty of their own in the 74thย minute to bring the score line to 18-19 with just over five minutes left on the clock.

A final burst from the Temple Hill residents earned them a last minute penalty from just inside the half way line. George Coomber sent the 40-metre kick right through the middle of the uprights, securing the victory with the final score of 21-19.
