Huge jump in passengers through Shannon for May holiday

SHANNON Airport will throw open its doors to welcome an estimated 53,000 passengers this May bank holiday weekend – a huge increase on the same time last year.

Expected passenger traffic is up 18 per cent for this coming bank holiday weekend, a spokeswoman for the airport said, marking a strong start to the summer season as thousands of holidaymakers get set to take advantage of the long weekend to jet off to destinations across Europe, the UK, and US.

The long weekend is also expected to see throngs of holidaymakers make their way through Shannon Airport for Riverfest activities in Limerick City.

This summer, Shannon Airport is operating 36 routes to 11 countries, with over 1.8 million seats available for passengers choosing to fly to and from the County Clare airport.

“It’s fantastic to see another vibrant bank holiday period following such an exceptionally busy Easter. We’d like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all our customers for choosing to fly Shannon Airport. We hope you enjoy every moment of your journey – both through the airport and on reaching your destinations,” said Niall Kearns, Airport Director at Shannon Airport.

“All the team are looking forward to making it easy for those
travelling this week, and to ensuring that our passengers’ holidays
start here at Shannon Airport,” the Shannon Airport director said.

To make travel even easier, customers are encouraged to pre-book their car parking online for the busy May bank holiday, and summer travel, as soon as possible.
