GARDAÍ are appealing for witnesses following a late-night assault in Limerick City.

The incident took place just after 2am on April 3 at the junction of O’Connell Street and William Street in the city, when a man in his early 20s was “assaulted by a member of a group who exited a dark coloured Opel Insignia” a Garda spokeswoman said.

One of the men head-butted the victim before the group fled the scene in a car, leaving him with a broken nose.

He was taken by ambulance to University Hospital Limerick, where he was treated for his injuries.
