Gardaí seize ammunition and half a million euro in drugs in Limerick

Gardaí seized ammunition and half a million euro in cocaine and cannabis.

THREE men were being questioned by Gardaí who searched a car and a premises in Limerick and discovered half a million euro worth of drugs and 200 rounds of firearm ammunition.

The operation, targeting a local organised drug gang, which was led by the Limerick Garda Divisional Drug Unit, saw armed officers stop and search a car and raid a unit at the Galvone Industrial Estate on Tuesday of this week (May 6).

The majority of the drugs, including cannabis and cocaine, along with the ammunition, were located at the industrial unit in a follow up search operation.

“On Tuesday, 6th May, 2025, as part of ongoing investigations targeting the sale and supply of drugs in County Limerick, Gardaí seized drugs worth over €500,000 and arrested three individuals,” a Garda statement read.

“Gardaí from the Limerick Divisional Drug Unit, in conjunction with other Limerick Regional Units, stopped a vehicle in the Galvone area. During the search, Gardaí discovered cannabis herb with an estimated street value of €30,000.”

Gardaí seized ammunition and half a million euro in cocaine and cannabis.

Gardaí said that “a follow-up search was conducted at a nearby premises”.

“During this search, Gardaí recovered an estimated €350,000 worth of cannabis, €150,000 worth of cocaine, approximately €30,000 in cash, close to 200 rounds of firearms ammunition and other drug-related paraphernalia.”

Three men — two in their 40s and one in his 30s — were arrested in connection with the seizures.

All three were detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1996, at Garda stations in Limerick.

“All of the drugs seized will be sent to FSI for further analysis,” Gardai said, adding that “investigations are ongoing.”
